You will be collecting and electronically organizing 20 different literacy strategies. In addition, you will create teacher materials and student handouts to use with these strategies and cross reference the electronic descriptions to the paper resources and visa versa.
Organize your literacy strategies into 4 categories: The first three categories are non-negotiable. The last category you may choose from the list given, or categorize one that makes sense for your own content area. {Note: you must have at least one strategy that helps your students use technology appropriately--digital literacy-- and one strategy that help you use instructional grouping.}

In the Wiki
In your own wiki, you will organize the 20 literacy strategies and write up the following for each:
Rationale:
Describe WHY you have chosen this particular literacy strategy. Do not write a description of the strategy or what it accomplishes, but rather why it will help you, and help students in your content area.
Courses in which it could be implemented:
Make these specific for common courses (or grade-levels) that you teach. This is for your reference so that you will be able to find strategies when you need them. Feel free to make these lesson specific if that will help you find ideas in the future.
Diverse learners:
Explain what learning styles or background of student may benefit most from this strategy.
Procedure:
How will you implement this strategy in your classes? Give a step-by-step procedure so that someone who knows nothing about this strategy could read your directions and use it in their classroom.
Potential Issues:
Describe any problems you anticipate when using this strategy. Describe ways to diminish those issues. This may include developing student or teacher resources to add to the binder!
References (Bibliography Information & Cross reference the Resource Binder)
APA documentation of resources. Websites, articles, texts, or Aunt Lorna. Also post any electronic documents here as well. (You can copy & paste all this information into the bibliography page when you're done.)
MUST cross reference any teacher (overheads, electronic documents) or student materials (handouts). List of what materials are in the Resource Binder.
Bibliography: (its own wiki page...to organize all references in one place)
In a 3 columned table, organize the list of 20 strategies with the references (APA style), and any electronic documents you have from researching for this project.
You must have at least one reference per strategy, and probably will have more. For example, you may find a website that gave you ideas on how to implement the strategy, another that had a pdf file that you plan on using, and a peer-edited journal that talks about its effectiveness when used with a certain group of students. If you have found an article on the strategy, and you have a full-text copy of the article, upload that as well (usually a pdf file).

In addition to the electronic organization of the 20 strategies, you are to compile a binder with teacher materials that are RTU (Ready to Use) and RTC (Ready to copy). Binder should include but is not limited to:
Overheads
Student worksheets
Manipulatives (for use on overhead or at student desks)
Paper copies of articles (that are not electronic in the wiki)
All materials in binder must be cross referenced specific pages in the wiki
Reflective Paper (see below for details)
How you organize the wiki and the binder is up to you, but it must be organized. Make it user friendly to YOU--but make the organization is consistent and that anyone would be able to find what they need no matter where they looked first--the wiki or the resource binder.
Make sure to cross-reference the binder with the wiki and visa versa.
Reflective Paper
The last part of this project is a reflective paper about the project as a whole (not individual strategies). Here is what should be included in the reflection.
Description of the organizational logistics of the project. Explain the cross-references, and how to access any documents, articles, or resources. Essentially, how are the e-portfolio and resource binder to be utilized? What are your plans for sharing this resource with your colleagues?
How will this change what you currently do?
Describe your goals of how you plan to put this into action.
Briefly address how this project will help you reach diverse learners, use technology, and use instructional grouping.
What changes would you make to this project? What would you do differently if you had the opportunity to do this project over again?
